NEDGIA is aware that the ban on door-to-door selling does not affect the distribution of gas.

The Naturgy group natural gas distribution company continues visiting homes of potential users who still do not have natural gas to offer them a personalised assessment and to recommend installing it.

Madrid, 19 November 2018.– NEDGIA, the natural gas distribution company of Naturgy Group, recalls that Royal Decree-Law, of 5 October, on urgent measures for energy transition and the protection of consumers, does not prohibit gas distribution companies from visiting properties of potential customers who still do not have natural gas in their home.

The Royal Decree-Law prohibits natural gas and electricity supply companies from going door-to-door selling electricity or natural gas supply contracts, but it does not make reference to gas distribution.

This distinction shows that the activity of gas distribution companies is different to that of supply companies. The distribution companies are responsible for managing the distribution network and connecting new properties so they can use this energy, as is the case with NEDGIA. In this sense, the user’s installation will always be connected to the same distribution company.

However, the supply companies are responsible for selling energy. They offer natural gas supply contracts and charge the end customer for consumption, while also competing with each other.

NEDGIA, as a distribution company, carries out important activities, including door-to-door visits, with the aim of promoting the use of natural gas as an energy for the home in those properties across Spain that still do not have this service.

This is a basic activity within the properties because the potential users receive a personalised assessment regarding the possibility of having natural gas, as well as the required installation in their property, or advice about how to maintain their installation in perfect condition.
