NEDGIA Madrid takes part again in the Region of Madrid gas installation safety campaign this year

NEDGIA Madrid participa un ano máis na campaña de seguridade de instalacións de gas da Comunidade de Madrid.

These awareness campaigns mean that the region has one of the lowest accident rates for this type of domestic installations.

Madrid, 29 October 2018. NEDGIA Madrid is again taking part in the Region of Madrid domestic gas installation safety campaign this year. The initiative is aimed at providing users with practical advice on the safe use of domestic gas installations with a view to avoiding any potential accidents.

The Deputy Economic Affairs and Competitiveness Councillor for the Region of Madrid, Javier Ruiz, and the Director-General for Industry, Energy and Mines, Francisco Javier Abajo, presented this safety campaign at the NEDGIA headquarters alongside the Director of NEDGIA Madrid, Raquel Vallejo, the Director of Operations, Juan José Picón, and the Director of Quality and Safety of NEDGIA, Pablo Riaño.

For NEDGIA Madrid and all the others attending the event, “user safety is a priority target, meaning these awareness campaigns are necessary for ensuring the highest level of well-being for natural gas users”, said Raquel Vallejo.

Monitoring correct combustion, making sure vents and the gas exhaust pipe are not obstructed and performing regular boiler maintenance every five years are just some of the main practical tips for safely using gas installations. Furthermore, it is important to know what you should do if you smell gas: open windows, do not switch on any electrical appliances or light switches and call your distribution company’s emergency hotline (NEDGIA: 900 750 750).

According to data from the Association of Companies in the Installation and Energy Sector (AGREMIA), user awareness and regular five-year maintenance checks under current regulations has led to favourable results from over 95% of the more than 400,000 inspections carried out on appliances and installations in the Region of Madrid in 2017.

Promoted by the Region of Madrid, the campaign is also being supported by other marketing and distribution companies, as well as the Spanish Gas Association (SEDIGAS) and AGREMIA.
